L.D. Bell is a Texas UIL 5A high school, grades 10-12 only, in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district. The Marching Band rehearses and performs from August through mid-November. Concert Bands and Jazz Band perform from November through May. The band, drumline, guard and jazz band appear at school and community functions throughout the year.

The L.D. Bell Blue Raider Marching Band numbers over 200 and is the reigning Texas State Champion in Class 5A. The Blue Raider Band was also champion of Bands Of America's Regionals in both San Antonio and Houston in 2000, sweeping all finals captions at both contests. The band finished in 2nd and 3rd place at BOA Regionals in 1999 and 1998.

The L.D. Bell Drumline was named champion of the 2000 PASIC Standstill Drumline Competition and the Color Guard finished in 2nd place at the NTCA State Championships in 2001.

L.D. Bell Concert Bands have been names "Best In Class" at contests in several states. The Symphonic Band was selected to perform at the 1999 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.

2001 BLUE RAIDER MARCHING BAND SHOW: "EXODUS"

This year's marching production is "EXODUS" - Music composed for L.D. Bell by Mark Higginbotham.

"EXODUS" describes a spiritual journey. We open with "The Kingdom" as our starting point. The second movement, "Departure," represents a voyage of self-discovery, individuality and triumph over adversity. "Many Miracles" tells of the grace and charity which come with maturity. Our final number, "One Self," depicts the realization of one's potential and the triumphant return home. The theme of EXODUS is "Learn to look with an equal eye on all things, seeing the one self in all."

Brass Captain is Nate Aune. Drumline Captain is Andy Manoushagian. Guard Captain is Kim Davis. Guard Lieutenants are Carly Repass and Leah Stanfield. Secretary is Sarah Hamilton.
